Here we go ....

Hey there, so here is my first blog for my new allotment - appropriately named for those who know me.

It was with great excitment that I took over my new allotment in October 2005. It was a bit daunting, especially when I had to hack my way in, but it was better than the other sites I'd been shown - one appeared to have rejoined the wood and the other two were so overgrown, that I couldn't actually make them out.

Since then, I've been steadily clearing the weeds and digging, with the aim of having two useable beds ready for Spring. I'm hoping that the bindweed is going to allow one or two things to grow ! Currently I'm working on my pumpkin & squash bed - following the principle that smothering the weeds will buy me some time later in the season ...
Here are some pictures from day one - mum thinks I'm mad...

... and these are only day one weeds ! oh boy ....
